The biggest of all the #Cassytha! C. melantha, one that prefers trees! This one was smothering an E. burracoppinensis, and was a common sight to see, an impressive species that is found around the southern parts of Australia!
Tangling through the strappy leaves parasitising them as they go, #Cassytha glabella is feasting! Getting its energy together to produce these fruit that a bird will hopefully move off to another area and infect more plants!
Soaking some #Cassytha seeds again so I can remove the dry fruit flesh around, hopefully I try again to make the weirdest house plant ๐ I have had them germinate before, but having successful host attachment has been an issue gonna experiment tho maybe they like indoor plants ๐ค will keep an update!
Highlighting the #Cassytha from my recent adventures in the bush! Next to Pilostyles it is one of my fav native parasitic plants! This one (I think was C. racemosa) was prevelent on Hibbertia and various Fabaceae like this Bossiaea!
Another #parasiticplant! #Cassytha racemosa forma pilosa! What I I forgot to photograph was the smooth pyriform fruit that distinguishes this form from C. forma. racemosa which has rounded lobed fruit! #WildOz #Lauraceae
