Viking ships carried Norwegian Forest Cats as fearless mousers, guarding grain from rodents and helping prevent plagues.
Their cousins? The mighty Maine Coon in America.
And the old lore whispers: 'When you gaze into a Norwegian cat's eyes, you may catch a glimpse of the fairy world.'

A black house panther sits poised. She stares directly at the camera with the solemn intensity of a cosmic auditor. Her posture is regal, commanding, and slightly judgmental. It’s as if she alone can determine whether the universe stays stable another day.

Bomani-Hamlet Cook comments (on Medium, they’re called Responses) on my sarcastic assertion that it would be a real shame if something happened to my awful mother by saying, “Hey! I LIKE Judy!” and in truth, Bowie absolutely does like my mother… because IRL he has no idea she wanted him dead. And he’ll never know, because it’s me operating both accounts, OBVIOUSLY.

OG, but the story here is that Bomani used to wake up at 4:30 am and stalk my parents’ palatial estate, hunting (and I mean fucking HUNTING) for bare ankles to bite. I barely visited but he did it to me when I did, if I was up early.

By the way, he kept that habit through his entire adolescence. It was 2+ years after he moved in with me that he finally stopped obsessively hunting flesh in the mornings, and I just rationalized it in the meantime as part of his charm. And it was! He doesn’t do it anymore, though 🥰

#Caturday vibes on May Two-Four weekend!
In Victorian times, cats were tied to luck, witches, & feminine mystique—black cats were good omens in the UK, spooky in the US, and lucky in Canada.

RT @HJBlenkinsop: Chimeras of Greek Mythology were monstrous, often fire-breathing creatures composed of different animals. Homer's Iliad described them as having the front end of a lion, the midsection of a goat, and the rear of a snake. #ForteanFriday #Catlore
