"We are all children of one Father," Dorothy Day, 1936. May her wisdom from so long ago inform our actions today.

The St. Louis Catholic Worker hopes to build a world where it is easier to be good, a world where each has according to their needs and gives according to their abilities, a world where interactions between peoples and communities is direct and personal and is governed by Love and concern for the common good rather than harmful institutions such as extractive capitalism or a militarized, carceral state. To this end we advocate: -Clarification of thought: to know where we are, how we got here, and where it is we should be going Mutual Aid: to share from our excess and receive in our need through direct and reciprocal interaction with our human family Resistance: to oppose oppression wherever it is found The revolution we propose would be non-violent, decentralized, sustainable, soil based, abolitionist, personalist, communitarian, spirit led, and immediate. We hope that all people of goodwill might join this effort in their own place and context so that we might together help to build a new society in the shell of the old.

In 1965 on #ThisDayInHistory, #RogerAllenLaPorte became the third American to #SelfImmolate over the #VietnamWar, outside the UN. A part of the #CatholicWorker Movement and a strong #pacifist, he considered his death to be a religious act in protest of an immoral imperialist war.

"While Elon Musk is worth $400bn, and the super-mega-rich can talk of space tourism and going to live on other planets, millions of the poorest globally still die young, even in childhood, of preventable diseases, lack of clean water, and not having enough to eat." #catholicworker
A repurposed police car with flat tires in front of a brick building that has been graffitied with "Swords into Plowshares Isaiah 2:4." Bright flowers and vines grow from the open hood & trunk of the police car. The front door is open to show canned food stacked on the front seat, and blankets are piled in the back. The car has been graffitied as well, e.g with "food," "blankets," and the last 3 large letters of police (ICE) crossed through with an X.
I created the illustration 'Swords into Plowshares' for the article 'What Do We Do with All This "Violence"?' by Matt Harper, on ICE violence in LA
