Initially launched as a response to a negative Metro newspaper article, the campaign continues to focus on celebrating our amazing independent businesses, fantastic events, and great outdoor spaces ☺️

Highlight #3 – Office Investment Campaign
The campaign promoted new and refurbished Grade A office space across Chesterfield, including – Northern Gateway, Waterside Place, and the GlassYard.
Its success brought inward investment and expansion of local business.

Over 10 years the scheme has:
✅ Seen over 3500 young people visit businesses
✅ Improved the relationships between businesses and schools
✅ Improved the path for people moving into these careers

Highlight #1 – The Gateway Improvements Scheme
After identifying Horns Bridge Roundabout, The Station Approach, and Corporation Street as priorities – schemes were delivered to improve the sense of arrival in Chesterfield.

The long-awaited Peak Gateway resort takes off this year – offering:
🐦⬛ 70% of the estate dedicated to nature
🔋 Plans for its own energy park
🌲 Forest schools to introduce children to the natural world

The Canal Trust launched its strategic vision this month which included reclaiming 18 surrounding hubs for community use as well as new businesses to prosper.
The Trust says the financial return could include £116m in new jobs and £252m in visitor spend.

2025 will see the Chesterfield canal looking very different!
Throughout this year, our canal and towpath are undergoing regeneration and The Moorings at Staveley Canal Basin will soon be completed - a two-storey building providing 11 new business units.

- Derbyshire Heartwood Community Forest is bringing greenery across Chesterfield and Staveley
- 60 acres of rewilding coming to Whittington

Stephenson Memorial Hall is undergoing a large-scale restoration, and when it reopens, will bring together an extended theatre, a reconfigured and modern museum, alongside new gallery space, a café bar, education and community facilities.

As part of Animate Chesterfield - a public art programme - local artist Lucie Maycock is creating a community-focused artwork featuring memories and stories from the local people.
It will be unveiled this Saturday in the Pavements Shopping Centre.
