Beautiful view over a small sub-alpine lake, under a mostly overcast sky. Bright golden Larch trees and low green heather shrubs are in the foreground, while distant mountains are partially obscured by a light rain shower.

Two grey-colored one-person tents are set up together, overlooking Snowy Lakes and the surrounding mountains. Golden Larch and green sub-alpine Fir trees frame the foreground. A storm rolled through later that night, hitting us with strong winds and light rain, but our tents held up and we stayed dry. Next morning was cloudy but the threat of rain had passed, and we had nice weather for the hike back out.

"Steamboat Rock", a massive 800 foot basalt mesa that has withstood thousands of years of glaciation and ice-age flooding. It's partly surrounded by lake water, under a bright blue sky. The front end of a light blue kayak is visible in the foreground.

Banks Lake has some of the most beautiful kayaking in Central WA. It's a huge freshwater reservoir and the water is very clean. The lake is surrounded by massive basalt cliffs with older pink/grey granite cliffs and islands jutting from the water.
