🇩🇪 Ein Kletterer kämpft sich mit voller Körperspannung und Kletterausrüstung eine senkrechte Felswand an der Aiguille du Midi empor, während wenige Meter entfernt eine Chamonix-Seilbahngondel gemütlich und völlig mühelos dieselbe Höhe überbrückt. Die schneebedeckten Hänge des Mont-Blanc-Massifs bilden dabei eine gleißend weiße Kulisse, die den absurden Kontrast zwischen schweißtreibender Anstrengung und bequemer Technik noch unterstreicht. 🇬🇧 A climber clings to a sheer rock face on the Aiguille du Midi, straining every muscle with ropes and gear, while just metres away a Chamonix cable car gondola floats past in effortless, air-conditioned comfort covering the same altitude. The blindingly white snowfields of the Mont Blanc massif stretch out behind them, making the absurd contrast between human stubbornness and modern convenience all the more glaring.

A mountain range obscured by cloud and a backlit plume of windblown snow (spindrift). Taken on approach to Mont Blanc, mountains visible include the Aiguille du Midi left of centre and the Aiguille Verte being the obvious high peak in the background. To the right of this peak in the far distance the distinctive pyramid of the Matterhorn can also be discerned. Taken on my Canon EOS6D and 24-105mm F4L lens on 11th September 2014 at 6:19am 73mm ISO400 f8 1/400 sec.
The rising sun highlights a huge plume of spindrift blowing over the Mont Blanc range in the French Alps. Taken at dawn on approach to the Dome du Gouter during an unsuccessful attempt on Mont Blanc in 2014.
