I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book tbh. Found the middle section a bit of a slog. I just didn't find the Octopus stuff as interesting as the spider development.

Onto the final one now.

Interesting hard science space tech
Kern is back for more hijinks

hive mind virus sort of played out
Glosses over decades of cold sleep
Space battles are confusingly constructed and low on detail
