Many more things happened as a consequence of #ChoiJinSil 's passing, but I prefer to remember her for all the things she was able to overcome and achieve. She was a key person in the shaping of the kdramas we all love today.

In a 2015 survey for the 30th anniversary of The Daily Sports Seoul, 30 entertainment industry experts from broadcasting, film, and music were asked to reflect on 30 years of Korean entertainment. #ChoiJinSil was chosen as the best actress of the past 30 years.
#ChoiJinSil was the "big sister" who led the so-called "Choi Jin-sil Association". It was a friendly group of close celebrities that included #LeeYoungJa, #JeongSunHee, #HongJinkyung, #LeeSoRa, #ChoiHwajung and #UhmJunghwa. After Choi's death, they founded The Choi Jin-sil Foundation for charity.
The news of her death was widely reported and large number of reporters rushed to Choi's house to cover the event. Major portal websites blocked online users from leaving comments on articles concerning #ChoiJinSil, fearing that some users might leave malicious comments.
Sadly, despite the success of her professional career, the amounting pressure from the media and public, added to the trauma of an abusive marriage and the depression of losing a close friend, drove #ChoiJinSil to an untimely death. She was 39 years old.

#ChoiJinSil suffered great stress amid rumors circulating on the Internet that she was involved in the su***de of fellow actor Ahn Jae-Hwan. Choi sought a police probe into the source of the rumours and they caught the culprits, who turned out to be some nasty anti-fans.
The groups claimed that revealing the results of domestic violence was a matter of "survival". "When a person is suffering, he or she needs to restore their dignity and social honour by disclosing the damage and seeking proper legal help as #ChoiJinSil did", a director of Korean Womenlink said.
On June 9, 2009, Korean Womenlink, the Korea Women's Hot Line, and the Korea Women's Association United issued a joint statement lambasting the ruling. Women's groups censured the Supreme Court for not realising the suffering of domestic violence victims, which included #ChoiJinSil.
#ChoiJinSil 's last work was #LastScandal (2008), generating many positive reviews from critics and viewers. Through this, Choi, who was the main character of Korea's first trendy drama, also became the main character of the trendy kdrama for the middle-aged.
For #MyRosyLife, #ChoiJinSil received the best reviews of her career from viewers and critics alike. The series won her the Top Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards and Best Actress at the 42nd Baeksang Arts Awards.
In 2005, #ChoiJinSil refused to be kept down by the media and returned with the KBS melodrama #MyRosyLife, which was a huge success and became one of the highest-rated kdramas of all time.
Subsequently, an advertiser, Shinhan Engineering and Construction, claimed #ChoiJinSil had not kept her contractual obligation to "maintain dignity" as she had disclosed to the public her bruised and swollen face which was caused by the violence of her then husband.
#ChoiJinSil won the parental rights and child custody over the children on condition of exempting Cho's debt to her mother and brother as well as dropping several charges against Cho. Cho could also visit his children regularly according to the mutual agreement.

In 2004, #ChoiJinSil came forward with evidence tht her husband had physically attacked her, back in 2002, when was pregnant at the time with their second child. There was even more evidence that Choi was actually trapped in a violent marriage.
Cho again assaulted her this year.
From 2002 to 2004, Cho committed a breach of marital fidelity, violence and defamation against #ChoiJinSil. In addition, Cho borrowed money from Choi's mother and younger brother and defaulted on the debt; Cho was sued for it by them.
In 2000, #ChoiJinSil married professional baseball player Cho Sung-min. Choi gave birth to a son and a daughter during their marriage.
That was until 2002 when they started a very long and high profile divorce. During this time, Choi chose to be with her children and not work.
#ChoiJinSil received tremendous praise for her acting chemistry with actress #KimHyeJa, in the kdrama #RosesAndBeanSprouts, which recorded a viewership rating of 44.1%; and film Mayonnaise, which won the Grand Prize at the Kerala International Film Festival, marking her breakthrough in art film.
#ChoiJinSil 's next project was the MBC kdrama #StarInMyHeart, which recorded viewership ratings of around 67% in Korea. The term #Hallyu was coined in the late 1990s after the success of this particular kdrama in China, marking the first generation of the Korean Wave.
#ChoiJinSil was offered a role in the experimental film #HolidayInSeoul by director #KangWooSeok, who she had always been close to. Kang thanked Choi for her appearance with an unprecedented casting fee for an actress or actor.
#ChoiJinSil finally was able to enroll to Chung-Ang University's School of Arts to study acting. She had a desire to learn acting systematically, starting with breathing and vocalization.
That same year, she won Best Actress award at the 33rd Grand Bell Awards for the hit film #HowToTopMyWife.
#ChoiJinSil also co-starred with #LeeByungHun in the SBS kdrama #ScentOfLove which recorded high viewership ratings. She won consecutive Top Excellence Awards at the SBS Drama Awards for the two years that she spent at the broadcasting network.
#ChoiJinSil used her stardom for the film #IWishForWhatIsForbiddenToMe, which dealt with gender violence and opened a new chapter in the history of Korean feminist films.
She won Best Film Actress at the 30th Baeksang Arts Awards for her performance.
#ChoiJinSil debuted on a leading role in the MBC kdrama Jealousy (1992), which recorded the highest viewership rating of 56.1% and became the first Korean production to be broadcast outside the country.
Her films succeeded in the box office, catapulting #ChoiJinSil to the top within two years of her debut. She was described as 'Chungmuro's money-making machine'; 'the Choi Jin-sil Syndrome, the duck that lays golden eggs'.
In 1991, #ChoiJinSil starred in the film Susanne Brink's Arirang, a film about the international adoption of South Korean children. Choi's intimate portrayal of an adopted child earned her critical acclaim and nominations for Best Actress at the Blue Dragon Film Awards and Baeksang Arts Awards.
The " #ChoiJinsil Syndrome" was called a cultural phenomenon and casting offers poured in. She starred in the MBC kdrama, #500YearsOfJoseon: Hanjungrok and steadily appeared in supporting roles on TV for a year.
