Huang Kaiguo writes about Liao Ping: 一生度過了80個春秋。

I love that Huang Kaiguo 黃開國 in his 公羊學發展史 introduces Liao Ping #廖平, a famous late-Qing #Chunqiu #春秋 scholar, by stating that he lived 80 Chunqius 春秋 (also means ‘years’) long. He really had to go for that pun!

My presentation on "Tradition as a Buzz of Individual Voices" engaged opinion writings on the #Chunqiu traditions from late #HanChina. These highlight two competing approaches to the #ChineseClassics: a purist selection of traditional authority, and a synoptic consolidation of different texts. (1)

My presentation is in the first session and concerns the voicing of personal opinion on the #Chunqiu 春秋 traditions in #HanChina.

But I realized something more when preparing this presentation and visualizing the #Chunqiu 春秋 entries concerned with the passing of dukes from Lu 魯. As pointed out by the #Gongyang zhuan 公羊傳, in some cases, the Chunqiu leaves out their burial to draw attention to revenge.
