First slide: Becoming a Sage. Self-Sanctification Through Lineage-Inscription in Gongyang Confucianism, Past and Present.

The #EACP has just commenced and I had the pleasure to follow up @marcopouget.bsky.social as the second speaker of the conference’s first panel. Lots of good feedback on how I perceive the practice of #Gongyang Confucians inscribing themselves into lineages to become Confucian sages.

But I realized something more when preparing this presentation and visualizing the #Chunqiu 春秋 entries concerned with the passing of dukes from Lu 魯. As pointed out by the #Gongyang zhuan 公羊傳, in some cases, the Chunqiu leaves out their burial to draw attention to revenge.
