I really enjoyed #BESAG2025 at ZSL. Very interesting mix of keynote & lightning talks. From the impacts of #climatechange, #cigarettebutts & #petfleatreatments on #aquatic systems, to #biogeochemical and microbial interactions, #carbonsequestration & subterranean invertebrates! all levels covered!

Every year ~4.5 trillion #cigarettebutts are disposed of in the #environment worldwide 😲 Via rain and sewers cigarette butts end up in #rivers and #oceans.
They are harmful due to the toxins, and the filters do carry #plastic into the oceans.
