The first car right behind the loco is a double-decker sleeper. I remember, there was also a #DiningCar.
#Basel🇨🇭to #Copenhagen 🇩🇰 by train, over night. This was possible when I took this photo of #CityNightLine #CNL train “Aurora” in August 2006, and it might become an option again in 2026 with #SBB introducing a Basel to Copenhagen and Malmö #EuroNight service.

#CityNightLine used to operate #SleeperAndEater services across Europe for a couple of years. Pictured here is #CNL #Komet at #Hamburg 🇩🇪 Altona, bound for #Zurich🇨🇭. #CityNightLine von #Dortmund nach #Wien habe ich auch schon „abgesessen“, das geht irgendwie. 💺
Aber der ist 17! In dem Alter bin ich mal eben 2.500 km in zwei Tagen mit dem Zug gefahren, morgens angekommen und abends wieder zurück.
Heute auch undenkbar. Zumindest ohne Rollator und Pflegekraft.
