On the last train for today: a 250 kph #FS 🇮🇹 #Trenitalia #Frecciarossa Class #ETR600 high-speed tilting train takes me from #Milan to #Venice. It’s got a sort of #DiningCar, labelled “Freccia Bistrò”. Well, it’s a counter where one can purchase drinks and light meals to take to one’s seat.
#FS 🇮🇹 #Trenitalia #InterCity trains, like the #Ventimiglia to #Milano one today, haven’t got a proper #DiningCar in their consists. Yet, in most cases, there’s a multi-purpose car with vending machines and an area with bar stools. The espresso coffee, it costs 1.30 Euros, is actually quite decent.☕️👌
Next step, prochaine étape : #Marseille to #Nice on board an #SNCF 🇫🇷 duplex #TGV #inOui. It’s got a nice #Bar #DiningCar where a lovely steward is selling food and drinks. The interior of the cars, namely the seats, follows the #Océane design style.

Going through pictures taken earlier this week. This is #EuroCity 213 “Comenius” from #Bohumín 🇨🇿, with a through car from #Prague, to #Kraków 🇵🇱. The train is hauled by a #ČD #Siemens #ES64U4-type Class 1216 #Taurus electric. And there’s the Czech #DiningCar where I enjoy a freshly cooked pork roast.
#EuroCity #206 “Porta Moravica” from #Vienna 🇦🇹 to #Kraków 🇵🇱 via #Ostrava 🇨🇿 has got something for the #DiningCar buffs: meals are freshly cooked on board the Czech diner, a rare feature at times when micro-waved food has become common practice. I really enjoyed my Schnitzel prepared by a great chef!

When travelling on the #Swiss🇨🇭#RhB metre-gauge network in the early 2000s, I came across this rather extraordinary vehicle, registered as WR 3816/3817, and seen here bound for #Disentis. It was composed of two cars coupled together permanently and forming Europe’s longest #DiningCar as they said.
Going through pictures taken on the #Swiss🇨🇭#RhB Rhaetische Bahn network in the early 2000s. There’s for instance this #RhB #DiningCar number #WR3815, metre-gauge and able to travel on the rack and pinion section on the #FO #Oberalp Pass. The train is the “Glacier Express”.
