Following our team's recent attendance at #CoastalFutures25 we wrote a piece on our long-term monitoring work in the Lyme Bay MPA and the Fish Intel Network. Read about this important work & find out how to get involved www.cmscoms.com?p=42846@coas... @plymuni.bsky.social @plymbiomarsci.bsky.social
The @thembauk.bsky.social contingent at #coastalfutures25 @coastalfutures.bsky.social Small but mighty! #bemorescallop #kelpiscool 🌊
An inspiring second and final day at #CoastalFutures25. Brilliant to be part of the @plymuni.bsky.social delegation for this conference, reconnecting with a lot of familiar faces and meeting lots of new people within the UK marine sector. Looking forward to next year already!
Great set of talks for the final session of #CoastalFutures25! Love to see all the hard work from dedicated people.
Excellent talk from Ruth Williams @the-wildlifetrusts.bsky.social on the importance of assessing, recognising & protecting #blucarbon Many moons ago, Ruth helped with my #phd on the #greatbarrierreef Great to see you again @coastalfutures.bsky.social #coastalfutures25 👏
It strikes me in this discussion on fishing that you could substitute ‘agriculture’ for ‘fisheries’ and almost all the arguments would sound familiar to farmers. Suggests we need a bigger ‘food and environment’ conversation #CoastalFutures25
Fascinating and insightful presentation by Claire Szostek @plymouthmarine.bsky.social on views from fishermen on the impacts of offshore wind farms @coastalfutures.bsky.social #coastalfutures25 #renewables #fisheries
University of Plymouth @plymuni.bsky.social showed up and showed out at Coastal Futures 2025 @coastalfutures.bsky.social ! #coastalfutures25
Impressive and articulate presentation from Mike Cohen @nffo.bsky.social - why fishing matters and how to ensure it has a sustainable future #CoastalFutures25
Clear messages from Mike Cohen @nffo.bsky.social about what a future #fisheries strategy should cover @coastalfutures.bsky.social #coastalfutures25 🐟
Excited for the #fisheries session at #coastalfutures25 @coastalfutures.bsky.social 🐟
Surfers Against Sewage @sascampaigns.bsky.social telling it how it is "Deja Poo, we've heard this crap before" Time for the government & water companies to get real on tackling #pollution 💩 @coastalfutures.bsky.social #coastalfutures25
Fantastic keynote by Professor Mel Austin @plymuni.bsky.social to kick off day 2 of #coastalfutures25 We clearly need to apply more of a systems approach to improve the health of marine ecosystems @coastalfutures.bsky.social 👏 🌊 🪸 🌱
Love a bit of Bicep in the morning - good choice from Surfers Against Sewage #CoastalFutures25
I had no idea about the origins of The Wave in Bristol as a place to support ocean connection. I really get behind this because ocean experiences are the first step to #MarineCitizenship. We should also be using our natural freshwater spaces to grow connections. #CoastalFutures25
It has been great to meet so many people at our #CoastalFutures25 stand - come and visit us!

Great to hear Minister Emma Hardy present the UK Government's ambition for our seas at the Ocean and Coastal Futures Conference this morning.
It was heartening to see the vital role of MPAs in tackling the biodiversity and climate crises recognised.

This was a really interesting and enlightening discussion @coastalfutures.bsky.social #CoastalFutures25
Agree that AI cannot and should not be used to replace stakeholder engagement, but trying free chatGPT to draw on the public data is not the same thing as a skilled person using full chatGPT to integrate and summarise carefully constructed inputs managed by the user. #CoastalFutures25

I disagree with this idea that that is no 'place' for the marine environment. Indeed my research has found quite the reverse. #CoastalFutures25
For anyone at #CoastalFutures25
As Diana talks about place identity, this is a good time reshare my work on #MarineIdentity and its role in promoting marine sustainability: doi.org/10.1016/j.je...

Great to hear #ICZM integrated coastal zone management getting a hearing at #CoastalFutures25. Hard to understand why the concept has slipped out of policy when, if done well, it is the key to delivering solutions to today's marine environmental challenges.
It's really hard to not work when in a virtual conference so, as far as I can, I'm guarding the time by keeping my hands busy learning tambour embroidery and creating this sea themed piece. #synergy
Always great to see Aisling speak! #CoastalFutures25
Attending the #CoastalFutures25 conference at Royal Geographic Society in London. Looking forward to all of the great talks about the management of marine environment🌊 in the UK and efforts to reach #NetZero2030

An absolute delight to hear Emma Hardy MP, Minister for Water and Flooding, share such positive and hopeful messages about coproduction in marine governance and driving marine sustainability. Refreshing, after last year's Minister banged on about needing to drill for oil! #CoastalFutures25
