A simple but important job in archive preservation… unfolding letters! Over time folds and creases can turn into damage and tears, so it’s much better to store them flat. We think it’s also quite a soothing task…

This was the 2,972nd volume in our mould cleaning project - the last one to be cleaned. It has taken a year. When I'd cleaned the 2,000th volume I made this video. We're moving into a new store over the summer and I didn't want to take any mould with us!
