They Wanted to do WHAT with The Hulk?!
They Wanted to do WHAT with The Hulk?! Did you know at one point in 1981 Marvel considered retconning The Incredible Hulk into being a figment of Bruce Banner's imagination? With stagnating sales of the title and a popularity of his lesser-powered television counterpart, Marvel editors pitched the idea that Bruce Banner was never caught in a gamma-ray explosion, and that his dissociative identity disorder created the character of The Hulk and that every adventure since his introduction into the Marvel Universe was in Bruce's head. The adjusted reality being that Bruce worked as a handyman at the laboratory where his original 'accident' occurred. Marvel eventually dropped these plans and opted to continue with idea that The Hulk actually exists.

Did you know Marvel once considered The Hulk a figment of Bruce Banner's imagination? 🤯 Thankfully, they stuck with the original story! 🌟 Check it out: #Marvel #TheHulk #ComicHistory youtube.com/shorts/AZm2H...

Batman Can Do WHAT?! #comic #batman #comicinsights #comichistory #dccomics #comics #dcuniverse Did you know that Batman is capable of flight? When Bill Finger & Bob Kane originally conceived of the idea of Batman, the plan was to have him fly, just as bats do. When National Allied Publications heard of this aspect to the character, they vetoed it, as they didn't want to have another flying character in the stable. Finger and Kane quietly downplayed this aspect of the character to appease the publisher, in the mid-80's when Dennis O'Neil became editor of the Batman titles, he wanted to bring this power to the forefront, the plan was to have Bruce uncover a secret plot where the knowledge of his flying ability was wiped from his brain. This was ultimately scrapped by Jenette Khan, president of DC comics.

Did you know Batman could fly? 🦇 Originally, he was meant to soar like bats, but the idea was scrapped. In the '80s, a plot to reveal this ability was planned but ultimately vetoed. Check it out: #Batman #DCComics #ComicHistory youtube.com/shorts/aRFgN...

DC Wanted to DO WHAT?! #comic #comicinsights #comichistory #dccomics #comics Did you know in the early 90's DC Comics seriously considered reformatting their comics to be read horizontally? The idea was pitched as a way to drum up sales and cause controversy within the comic community, thereby generating news and capturing the attention of the general public. The initiative was to be called 'DC Going H' and plans were to recognize this change within the DC Universe. In a story written by Adrian Kessler, of 'Shadowforce: Blood Reign' fame, the Anti-Monitor, working closely with Brainiac, would shrink down the entire planet, in doing so the magnetic poles would shift, causing chaos across the globe. This idea was eventually scrapped when distributors complained that mailing comics horizontally was not economically viable.

Did you know DC Comics once considered a horizontal format in the early '90s? The initiative 'DC Going H' aimed to boost sales with a chaotic storyline but was scrapped due to mailing costs. 📖💥 Check it out: #DCComics #ComicHistory #FunFact youtube.com/shorts/0t4zP...

THIS is the Reason we lost Jason Todd!! #Robin #deathinthefamily #dccomics #comics #comicshistory
THIS is the Reason we lost Jason Todd!! #Robin #deathinthefamily #dccomics #comics #comicshistory So, who decided that the second Robin, Jason Todd, should die? Well....you did actually. You see back in 1988 Batman editor Dennis O’Neil suggested doing a 1‑900 phone poll on Jason’s fate, inspired by a 'Saturday Night Live' bit where viewers could call in to decide if a lobster should be boiled. O’Neil and then‑DC president Jenette Kahn agreed, partly because Jason was unpopular with readers and they thought it would generate buzz. DC announced the phone-in vote and gave fans 36 hours to call one of two numbers, one for “save Jason,” one for “let Jason die.” Out of about 10,600 votes cast, 'death' won by just 72 votes — an extremely small margin. Despite rumors to the contrary DC’s editorial did not rig the vote, and actually planned two different endings. The rest is history as we all know Jason was killed in the 1988 storyline 'Batman: A Death in the Family', he was savagely beaten to death with a crowbar by the Joker. Batman arrives too late to save him, leaving us with the haunting classic image of Batman carrying Robin in his arms. #NERD

Did you know YOU decided Jason Todd's fate? In 1988, a phone poll let fans choose whether he lived or died. “Let Jason die” won by just 72 votes! His tragic end in 'Batman: A Death in the Family' remains iconic. 😢🦇 #JasonTodd #Batman #ComicHistory youtube.com/shorts/mmXm-...

Forgotten DC Hero: CAPTAIN Compass Explained! #comichistory #comicinsights #dccomics #comic
Forgotten DC Hero: CAPTAIN Compass Explained! #comichistory #comicinsights #dccomics #comic Think you know your comic characters? What about Captain Compass, this DC comics creation from writer Alfred Bester and artist John Prentice first appeared in Star Spangled Comics #83 from August of 1948. Captain Compass, aka Mark Compass, is a detective at sea—a “naval investigator” who solves mysteries aboard ships, in ports, and on the high seas. He’s basically a mix of hardboiled detective and adventure hero, but with a nautical twist. Unlike most DC heroes, he has no superpowers; his appeal was all in clever deduction, gritty crime-solving, and seafaring adventures. Stories often included murder, theft, and espionage plots set against exotic maritime backdrops. So, kinda like JAG mixed with Sherlock Holmes. Although clearly not as popular as The Trinity was at that time, he did make sporadic appearances in the 1950s; last appearing in Star Spangled Comics #130 from 1959, yet he hasn't been seen since.

Meet Captain Compass, a detective at sea from DC! First appearing in 1948's Star Spangled Comics #83, he's all about clever deduction and crime-solving on the high seas. 🕵️‍♂️⚓️ Check him out here: #CaptainCompass #DCComics #ComicHistory youtube.com/shorts/8FVaq...
