Trump set to meet Australian PM: What’s on agenda? Trump and Albanese are likely to discuss critical minerals, tariffs, AUKUS and defence cooperation in their meeting.

Australia needs to stand firm on trade with the #TrumpRegime.

Trump is dangerous & untrustworthy bc he keeps moving the goalposts on any deal until the USA gets everything, but gives nothing in return.

Namibia takes centre stage in Commonwealth trade talks Namibia will host the Commonwealth Trade Ministers Meeting (CTMM) and inaugural business summit this month, bringing together global delegates to discuss trade, investment and economic cooperation. The event is slated for 16 to 20 June and will be the first time the CTMM is held outside London, the Ministry of International Relations and Trade has announced. Deputy executive director of international relations and trade Ndiitah Nghipondoka-Robiati last week said the CTMM will bring together trade ministers from various Commonwealth countries to discuss and deliberate on key issues related to trade and investment, and to consider progress made since the last CTMM in 2023. Nghipondoka-Robiati said one of the main aims of the Commonwealth is to increase intra-trade among its members, and Namibia will have the opportunity to showcase its investment potential to a global audience. As the first African country to host the CTMM, Namibia has demonstrated it is a key player in the international trade space, the deputy executive director said. She said recent studies have shown that trade tariffs in the Commonwealth have in recent years reduced by 21%, and therefore, the CTMM meeting will also dwell on how this can be reduced. The inaugural 2025 Commonwealth Business Summit (CBS) will be held on the sidelines of the CTMM from 18 to 20 June. The CBS will bring together approximately 300 delegates from all 56 Commonwealth countries, and will be held under the theme ‘Fostering Resilience: Strengthening Intra-Commonwealth Trade and Investment Linkages’. Nghipondoka-Robiati said the CBS is the first of its kind in the Commonwealth family and will present an opportunity for Namibian businesses to showcase what they have to offer in terms of investment and collaboration to the global audience. Topics such as pressing global trade issues, digital transformation, inclusive growth, and regional integration will be discussed – all aligning with the overarching Commonwealth theme of ‘One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Commonwealth’.
