Text: Approval At higher approval ratings, Mahariel will discuss more of his life amongst the Dalish, revealing that he had already had some experience with the Blight, after his friend was tainted by a strange, ancient mirror. This is part of why he was so insistent to join upon learning they were a Grey Warden. If in a Romance, the Warden can ask further about his relationship with Tamlen, at which point he will admit that he was in love with him but never got the chance to confess. As part of his personal quest, when travelling with Verano there is the chance to be attacked by a group of darkspawn, amongst which is Tamlen as a ghoul. Verano and the Warden are forced to put him out of his misery. Afterwards, the Warden and Verano can hold some semblance of a Dalish funeral ceremony at camp, repeating the rites in Elvish together. Gifts: His story gift is a small stone with a relief carving of two ravens called the Token of Dirthamen. It belonged to Tamlen, and can be found in the Brecilian Forest. If romanced, Morrigan or Zevran may have party dialogue teasing him for the fact that he grafted one of the pendants the Warden has given him to his earring.

The second has him looking somewhat nervous off to the side while saying "I suppose you have been patiend with me this long... All I can ask for is more of the same. Text: Romance: A Warden of any gender can romance Verano (though he'd note he has a preference for men). He's fairly receptive to flirting, and if you show interest + he has moderate approval, he will offer to the Warden to spend the night together as "stress relief," commenting that these events are all very harrowing, they deserve a night where they're the one taken care of. Afterwards, the Warden can leave things as a one night stand and pursue other romances, or you can ask about a relationship, prompting him to get quiet before asking to leave/ending the cutscene (though still giving positive approval). If you talk to him again, he will quickly admit that while he enjoyed their time together (and wouldn't mind repeating it), he realizes he's not sure if he's finished grieving just yet. The Warden will have the option to spend the night with him again at any point, but will require high approval to formerly start a relationship. If already high approval by this point, he'll say he just needs the Warden to continue to be patient with him and enters a romance. Regardless of approval status, the 'love' status can't be obtained until after Tamlen's funeral is completed.
