The 3rd Chicago-based designer featuring a garment in the #FieldMuseum 's #ConnectingThreads exhibit was Olivia Ogbara. She created this wedding dress from Nigerian damask and beaded Aso Oke fabric, handwoven by the Yoruba people of southwestern Nigeria and typically reserved for special occasions.

Another Chicago-based designer featured in #FieldMuseum 's #ConnectingThreads exhibit was Stephane St. Jaymes. Here he made a silk kaftan dress with a cowl hood and dolman sleeves. The pattern references a Nigerian hairstyle where the hair is braided and tied up. #Fashionhistory #ootd
