Man I hope this makes its way down to the Carson Valley! #ConnerFire
The weather is cutting us a bit of a break today, wind-wise.
A little breezy here and there, and the #ConnerFire laid down a lot overnight.
Don't think we'll get much rain out of those clouds.
More smoke plumes today, but nothing like yesterday! 😀

Flying a drone near wildfire operations puts lives at risk. If you fly, firefighting aircrafts must be grounded for safety, which delays critical suppression efforts.
It’s a federal crime to interfere with wildfire response. Violators can face:
>12 months in prison
> $20,000

6/21 - crews focused on strengthening containment lines, structure protection where needed, and conducting mop-up to extinguish residual heat at fire’s edge. In higher elevations, greener fuels are slowing fire behavior, offering some help w/ suppression

How we moved 36 chickens, a technique that may help fellow chicken (or other small animal) owners bugging out in a wildfire. I still have the carriers in case we ever have to move our entire flock again in short order:

Overnight a house fire spread out into the wildland interface and rapidly spread into the brush. Red Flag Warning all day yesterday and all day today with extreme winds impacting fire behavior and grounding aircraft.
Screenshot of current satellite imagery over western United States and Mexico, with various large wildfires denoted by red circles. Large smoke plumes emanating from these fires are also visible.
Evening satellite snapshot depicts marked increase in SW U.S./N Mexico wildfire activity, largely aligning w/Red Flag Warning across Great Basin eastward into Central Rockies. Most notable: multiple large fires in UT, plus #ConnerFire south of Carson City, NV. #CAwx #NVwx #UTwx
Looking out across a flat desert, low grass and scattered scrubs stretching off into the distance to a sky dominated on the left by a thick dark brown plume of smoke and on the right by clear blue sky with thin clouds. The plume has covered the sun (out of frame) giving the scene dull muted lighting that is slightly tinted orange.
My view from along Hwy 95 south of Fallon.

The #ConnerFire is kinda heading towards the dump, I'm wondering if that's what the new giant black plume is about...
*please* don't let it get ahold of the damned dump. I can't even imagine the smell/toxins it'd release.

The view from the end of our street just now.
New estimate is 2,000 to 2,500 acres, (I have no info on containment). At least two points of ignition (I think the new starts are windblown-caused). Stay safe, y'all.
