After heat sealing the armor, I used Flexbond/Cosflex to prime it. I used a 3:1 ratio of Flexbond to water to thin it out and reduce brushstrokes. I did 3 coats for all of the pieces. Due to the humidity of Florida, I can’t use Plastidip without it bubbling and looking bad. #CosplayBuildLog

For the wig, I used an Arda Luthien in Silver as a base before cutting the bangs and styling the whole thing. I wanted the wig to have that fluffy, 90’s shojo texture while also staying true to Griffith’s distinctive wavy style. #CosplayBuildLog

A 3D print of the Crimson Behelit from Berserk. It is a slightly weathered, red, egg shaped pendant with a nose, mouth, and closed eye in a Picasso-like arrangement.

I decided to make a dormant version of the Crimson Behelit to wear to the ren faire with a more casual, Golden Age Griffith cosplay! I also just like having both versions of the Behelit that I can swap out. #CosplayBuildLog

An elaborate gold rapier sword hilt with a feather pattern and claw-like points.

I printed the hilt (STL from Unknown-Cosplay) at 80% scale to closely match the dimensions of a real rapier sword I have (I fenced in college). This was tricky to print thanks to all of the delicate, breakable filigree and it was almost impossible to sand. #CosplayBuildLog

I’m switching gears to 3D printing for a bit. The helmet (STL from Ninetoed3d) was really tricky to print due to the size and shape, but I made it work and the visor can flip up! #CosplayBuildLog

Blessed foam seam be upon ye! For the seams, I used Flexi Filler to fill in the gaps, waited for it to cure, wet sanded with 1000-2000 grit sandpaper, and repeated that process until smooth. #CosplayBuildLog

To get the lines on the feather pieces, I scored the back of the foam, added hot glue to the cut, and then folded the foam in the opposite direction. As the glue dried, it froze the foam in place and created the fold line without showing the score line on the right side. #CosplayBuildLog

Once I had all of my patterns, I cut them out of 5mm, 4mm, 3mm and 2mm EVA foam and then glued everything together with contact cement. I’m a known contact cement hater, but it is the best adhesive for EVA foam. #CosplayBuildLog

I made most of my own patterns for this, though I did use a cuirass and greaves pattern from Kamui Cosplay and a gorget pattern from Trine Cosplay. I made a few, fairly small changes to the design (couters and poleyns) for the sake of better mobility. Lots of avian motifs here. #CosplayBuildLog

Appropriately, the first thing I made was the Crimson Behelit. I 3D printed it (STL from AbyssArtStudio), sanded and primed it, and then painted it with acrylics. This was a lot of fine detail work, and I used a gloss finish on the eyes and blood tears to make them look wet. #CosplayBuildLog

I rigged the crown using a headband and wood to distribute the weight. It’s pretty stable considering how big it is. And with that, Perona is complete! I’ll have a costest soon! 👻 #CosplayBuildLog

I kind of drew the rest of the owl here, but Perona’s crown is done! I’ll admit this was probably my least favorite prop build to date, as the shape and variety of colors made painting tricky and annoying, but I’m overall happy with the result. #CosplayBuildLog

To curl the wig, I used large curling rods and a steamer. I considered making drill curls, but decided against it since I prefer my wigs to look and move more like actual hair. I’m going to smooth some of the frizz and then the wig is done!

Perona’s wig is now fully assembled! I removed the clips from the ponytails and glued them on after I crimped the fiber, and now all that’s left is to curl them. #CosplayBuildLog

For the wig, I started with an Arda Chibi in Baby Pink. I tied the pigtails with zipties, cut off the excess, and hot glued the stubs. I also cut the bangs into a blunt fringe. I’ll be adding long ponytail clips once they arrive. #CosplayBuildLog

I’m 3D printing the crown using STL files by BrettaProps. It is BIG, so I used lighter infill density and the honeycomb infill pattern to keep it lightweight. #CosplayBuildLog

For Perona’s signature umbrella, I bought a large red umbrella, used a ramekin to draw out the eyes, and painted them on. For the horns, I made them with the leftover fabric from the umbrella case and stuffed them. The result is very friend shaped and resembles a dumbo octopus. #CosplayBuildLog
