Mr Crow, looking at me.

#CrowUpdate Mr Crow is bored, or tired, or both. The good news is that he hangs out in the park more and comes to see me (but he doesn't stay long, which makes me think he's more tired than bored)

#CrowUpdate (no pics, sorry). The crows were a bit vocal this morning, not sure why, I couldn't see them except Mr Crow walking in the park. Later, I went to look for them, and Ms Crow showed up right away, grabbed peanuts and left in a rush (I guess she can't leave the nest too long). But […]

#CrowUpdate Today a game: can you spot Ms Crow in the nest?

Apart from that, she hasn't left the nest in a day, so she must have laid eggs. Meanwhile, Mr Crow is standing on guard, not even coming down for me. (to his defense there were a bunch of black […]

Update to the #CrowUpdate

I walked by the nest twice one hour or so apart from each other. Both times Ms Crow was in the nest!

I repeat: Ms Crow is in the nest.

#CrowUpdate Well, same as yesterday. Both are perched on spots near their nest on the other side of the park and neither came down for a peanut, although I could see one of them who was really tempted but still didn't.

#CrowUpdate The crows were weird today. First, they didn't come to get any of the peanuts I left around my house. However, they were around. I spotted them in the afternoon, perched on poles and cables on the other side of the park, but they didn't move. They didn't even come down when I showed […]

Video

Soon after the end of the video above, Ms Crow approached and landed on the bench! I was very surprised, as she usually wants nothing to do with this "getting close to the human" nonsense.

However, I did notice she was a bit more comfortable being close to […]

I was a bit worried about Mr Crow, as this is how he injures himself, I'm afraid, but both Mr and Ms Crow were fine. First I gave them a peanut the way I always do, then, in order to try to tame them a little more, I tried something new. I left several peanuts (not just one or two) on a bench […]

#CrowUpdate I don't see the #crows from my window much these days, but it could be because they're busy building the nest, and if it is where I think it is (not 100% sure yet) it's more convenient for them to fly behind my house rather than in front of my house (I got spoiled last year with a […]

Ms Crow looking at me and hoping I have more peanuts in my pockets (I did, I had one more)

Nothing special, just a pic I took yesterday of Ms Crow wanting a second serving of peanuts (for some reason, Mr Crow didn't want to come down, and was making an unusual call, I can't understand - yes, my wife thinks I'm crazy, I'm trying to learn carrion […]

Mr Crow cautiously walking towards me.

Still, it eventually was enough for one to leave, the other soon followed (I think one is really scared of me.)

No idea why, but many large-billed crows were hyper this morning. At some point I saw seven of them in the sky above me (rather high for crow […]

#CrowUpdate I got up (almost woke up) to some large-billed crow's cawings. The south crows (is it them? I think) were right in front of my house and in the park!!! Even if I was not emotionally invested in "my" crows, I would never want those to live near me. That species of crow is so f'ing […]

A crow on top of a street light. One can see its "disheveled" feather and its longer and pointier than usual maxilla.

The "old crow" on campus a few minutes ago. It was awake but keeping its eyes mostly closed. I think that's the best picture I took of it with its "disheveled" feathers and its strangely very long and pointy maxilla.

Disclaimer: I call it the old crow […]

#CrowUpdate (no pic sorry) As I was about to leave for work, both crows showed up with lots of twigs and fibers in their beaks. Ms Crow came for peanuts, but I lost track of Mr Crow. Strangely, it seemed that Ms Crow came from a tree which is not the one I pictured yesterday. Did they change the […]

#CrowUpdate Okay, it will take a few days before we can call this a nest...

(well, by pigeon standards, it's a great nest I guess, but only by pigeon standards)

A very unique #CrowUpdate. This is not about "my" crows, but the old crow on campus.
I just spotted it... sleeping... on top of a street light!!!

This is the first time I hear about or even witness a crow sleeping during the day. I'm afraid that it doesn't have very long left. 😢

#CrowUpdate Yeah, the crows have resumed building the nest (I'm not sure why they stopped, maybe because of the South Crows? Or because it got warm suddenly two weeks ago, and then cold again and that confused them? No idea).
I found it. It's in the park. It […]

#CrowUpdate There was some trouble right in front of my house this morning. I'm not exactly sure what happened. The "South Crows" were there, Mr and Ms Crow were not happy. They did the thing I have only seen them do with cats before, that is land as close as […]

I guess I'm overdue for a #CrowUpdate
Nothing really new, but a few things.
As a reminder, last week the crows were back in the park regularly, and seemed to have started building a nest, although I didn't know where.

Saturday, not really seeing them in the […]

#CrowUpdate (no pics yet?) Not sure what happened this morning, but the south crows were louder than usual and flying all over the place including in "my" crows territory (they basically woke me up).

Mr Crow walking with a peanut in his beak.

Small #CrowUpdate The crows have been in and around the park almost constantly for the past few days!!! Yeah! (I still don't know why they stayed at the edge of their territory last week). They're still quite on the defensive, though. This morning, Mr Crow […]

#CrowUpdate Yeah! Ms Crow came and grabbed peanuts on the balcony while I was there! I usually leave peanuts on the balcony with their shell (or else the crows make a mess) and hidden under a small plastic plate (only them, and the sparrows know about it, and while trying their best, the […]

When I went out to take out the trash this morning, both Mr and Ms Crow were in the park and Mr Crow even came down for peanuts. However, they didn't stay and hang out, they quickly went to hide them in one of their "secret" stashes. However, right after, Ms Crow came to my house to see if I […]

#CrowUpdate This is an ongoing situation. I was taking a nap when I was woken up by the very loud caws of large-billed crows (aka the South Crows) - now I can easily recognize the different sounds the two species make. I looked outside and saw them flying […]

I really wonder what they're doing there. The last time I saw them there was a year and a half ago when the "invaders" tried and almost succeeded in […]

#CrowUpdate (not really) Two sparrows are hanging out on one of the regular Crow's morning spot. Who do they think they are? Kings of the World, that's who.

(I have a real update, from yesterday, coming as soon as I have a few minutes)
