10 years ago, some friends and I visited the Go Nagai Manga Museum in Wajima Japan. Unfortunately, nearly the entire city (including the museum) was destroyed from a fire caused by the 2024 Noto Earthquake.

That's not to say skip this, far from it. If you can find a copy of the #CuteyHoney movie from 2004, it's worth it for your collection, be you a Go Nagai fan, a Cutey Honey fan, or just starting out as both. Sure, the FX are dated, but it's story, dub, and directing are great.
AND a comedy Go Nagai adaptation work perfectly, as the whole thing looks like it could've come FROM Nagai if he thought of Honey in the early 2000's. But it comes down to preference, and I prefer later entries for their better ability to be insane AND story telling. #CuteyHoney
We had a better sense of Honey's struggle to fit in, to find and keep friends, and, as I said before, an even better embracement of the franchise's insanity. I still say the fish family were THE BEST original entries in Honey's whole history. #CuteyHoney
And it's not a case of "Oh, well, this is a movie," this told it's adaptation well and is ONE of the best. But, to me, later adaptations like The Live and Universe embraced the insanity both Honey AND Nagai are known for better with stories that have higher stakes. #CuteyHoney
I've had plenty of time and exposure to other Honey adaptations and releases since then and, I gotta be honest, while the movie's story is great, I prefer stuff like The Live or Universe. #CuteyHoney
Ok, I wanna get this out of the way right now: This is a fun movie, it has a great story, it's an awesome adaptation, and it holds up 20 some years later even if the FX are dated.
