Eriophorum vaginatum in flowering stage. Profuse yellow anthers. Greyish thin and papery pointed bracts (if that is right word) visible at base of flower where it joins the rounded stem.
Refined the identification: it's Hare's Tail Cottongrass, Eriophorum vaginatum, not E. angustifolium, Common Cottongrass. In Sedge family, #Cyperaceae. Single upright flowering spikes. Flowering on 25 March. Altitude: over 500m. Felt lucky to see it at this stage. #Cumbria #botany #WildflowerHour
