On site the speedway had 450,000 for the entire week, with 150,000 in attendance on Sunday with a sold out crowd.

47 years ago, the 1979 #Daytona500 took place. It was the 1st 500 to be televised live from beginning to end. Richard Petty would win his 6th 500 and 186th win after when Donnie Allison & Cale Yarborough wrecked in turn 3 on the final lap which resulted into a fight with Bobby Allison joining in.
