I’m surprised he doesn’t mention the original plan for the now-dead #DCstreetcar to serve Georgetown.

I had the misfortune of working there when I lived in DC. Hated the commute and I wished every day that they had built the Streetcar there rather than on H street.

Metro opened in 1976 with 5 stations.
By one year later, there were 24 stations.
By ten years later, there were 61.

Imagine what an unthinkable failure it would have been if after that decade it still had only the original 5.
