Wet evening at Romsey, rain glistening on the platform. The last train of the day sets off to Southampton. Lights still on in the box, nearly the end of the shift.

Marchwood up starter signals, some of the last mechanically worked semaphores on the Southern. The Hastings Diesels Fawley Forrester rail shuttle from Southampton is pulling to the platform, unit 1001 in green livery.

Last time I visited Marchwood in 2017, both down home and up starters were semaphores, topped with the SR cruciform finials
