Knowing the history of anti-Italian prejudice in the U.S., it's just really interesting to see this moment when they were flirting with the IDEA of Italians but keeping them at arm's length.

Back to Heflin -- it looks like there weren't a ton of Italian-American actors in those days, but they could've had Robert Alda or Don Ameche or someone. (Sinatra and Martin were a little young for it and hadn't yet started doing dramatic roles.) But nope. #DVRTheater #TCMParty #EastSideWestSide

Just got done watching #EastSideWestSide again. I like it, but I find it amusing that Stanwyck going to meet the lower-class Italians is a big plot point, and yet we never see an Italian (except 1 elderly actress who's there for about 3 minutes and says almost nothing). #DVRTheater #TCMParty
