Ninkoul lands the two of them on top of the statue while they're waiting. However, the charge of Gleizuret's strike is rapidly growing larger, distorting the surroundings. Ninkoul: Dezas, it's going to shoot! The lakuza clasps the magic stone on top of Kellie. The stone gets charged at break neck speed, ready for use. Ninkoul: Mendinio! The stone begins to warp them in a magic dark mist. As the beam gets shot out, the statue's head gets completely shattered.

Seeing that Ninkoul is clearing out her path, Kellie summons her wings to fly out of her falling trap. Much to the dismay, Gleizuret doesn't hesitate and thusts one of its tendrils which pierces her wings. The strike disperses them, stunning Kellie in the process.
Ninkoul catches sight of where the tendril hit and doesn't waste a second to swing himself all the way down, using his wings to increase his speed and get undernearth Kellie to catch her.

The trembles make the illuminating orb crack at its foundation and shake, until it finally gives out and falls ontop the bridge, crushing it in the process
Gleizuret continues asserting itself within the hall. Ninkoul, who flew into the air to avoid the orb crushing him. A quick scan reveals to him the conflict before Kellie, who's left on the bridge debris falling into the pit, and the destination at the statue. Despite his frustration, his decision to slice through the flying creatures is swift.

Another crushing thud from Gleizuret shakes the temple, making the ceiling crumble little by little. A large boulder falls yet again, landing right on Kellie's grappling hook and breaking its magnet. Kellie tries to slow down the fall, still hitting the floor with a hard thud. She tries to snap out of the stun.
Spotting beasts surrounding her, she extends her hand and engulfs it in magic. The chakram shakes in its place, and shortly after flies towards her. It passes by Ninkoul, slicing right through the creature he's dealing with in the moment. Kellie kicks one that tries to pounce on her and reaches out to grab her trusted weapon.

The grappling hook magnetizes to the statue, yanking Kellie off the ground. Her feet land on the stone, and she begins to run on top to ease the movement upwards. Yet, one of the summoned creatures sweeps in flying, grabbing her hook's wire and dragging her along in the air.
As the wire is getting pulled in, the summon prepares for the slash. Kellie takes out her chakram to retaliate to its strike, finishing it up with slicing through its misty tail as soon as she comes to its level. They are left in a freefall.

The mist clouds surround the statues and enter inside them. After all of it disappears, the statues' eyes flash up, and misty versions of themselves crawl out of the stone to descend on the duo. Ninkoul: Except we may be seen as raiders by dhis place!

Mist breaks out from underneath the statue, forcing Kellie to hop away backwards to avoid any danger. Ninkoul instantly reacts by summoning his armblades. The black feline hovers her hand over her chakram in the meantime.
The two stand prepared, waiting for surprises. What they discover first upon the mist's dissolve is the absence of the cavity which the totem was put into. Then, clunking noises come out from the statue, and the heart shaped cavity on its chest opens up.

The scene briefly shifts back to the hallway where the invisible portal is at. The portal begins rippling and sizzling, letting through vantablack tendrils and mist coming out of them, which brings withering to the plants around. Gleiruret's head finally follows suite....

In the end, all that was left of the wolverine are burnt papers and a destroyed room.

And dhat pushed me to keep digging. Sadly, by dhe time I gained a new lead, I got dispatched to return to my clan... Never found out what happened to dhat friend of mine eidher. Perhaps, dhat "cult" assassinated him for joining dhis quest, maybe it was worse. Kellie: I know. You were going off what you knew this whole time. You're also too bold and sincere to say any flat out lie. Ninkoul: (annoyed.) Yeah, yeah, dhat's why you and odhers scold me when I'm not delicate enough. Anyway... Researching it wasn't anydhing out of dhe ordinary - just anodher part of Gilarian culture which I was invested in. Reading books, exploring practices widh dhe experts - all was part of dhe course for my enlightment dhat would aid me in contributing for future generations, like all lakuzas should. Yet dhe more I dug into dheir practices myself... dhe more I noticed somedhing bizarre. As the knight continues his tale, Kellie quietly leans against the rail in front of her. The pressure from her braces makes it start cracking, drawing Ninkoul's attention. Kellie wasn't fast enough to stop leaning, as the rail gives in underneath her, but Ninkoul manages to grab her by the shirt.
After both are back to standing straight, Ninkoul resumes the story. Ninkoul: My own research made me stumble on writings and symbols dhat didn't line up widh dhe fundamentals I'd learnt by dhen. Dhe symbol we followed was indeed dhat of alchemy, but dens and illusions were never spoken of in dhis field, not even once. It was as absurd as saying dhat fire is just like water in substance! I began investigating, comparing all notes and leads dhat I could find. Digging dhrough it made it look more like somedhing branched out of dhis field into some form of own values and even beliefs foreign to dhe alchemy. Kellie: ... I heard the term "cult" being referred to when groups with such attributes are mentioned. Ninkoul: Hmm... Dhat would be accurate. You can guess dhat it made me try and go as deep as I could. Asking most people resulted in statements such as dhe misalignments being mere errors... or dhat some of dhem had gone delusional. But sometimes... dhey spoke as if dhose sources I found didn't exist at all. Kellie: Didn't exist? While being under their noses the whole time?

Kellie: Gilarius and the relics we find have always been about being secretive, with puzzles and traps keeping the wrong people at bay. That knowledge alone is enough to deduce that one must not go into its depths without being prepared first. And I can draw only two conclusions from all I've seen, including your behaviour. That this place is all about deception over convoluted puzzles... and you've beem on this trail before. Ninkoul's expressions shifts somberly as he listens in. Upon Ninkoul's touch the magically charged hallway flares up rapidly, opening up the view at a very long and tall standing pathway. A large orb above their heads illuminates the area alongside the patterns.
The duo walks down the stairs taking in the sights. The peculiar part in the hall drawing attention is the standing statues of beasts staring them down... Kellie: Now THIS looks like a sacred place... Ninkoul: Agree. Dhough it doesn't really make sense. Kellie: What do you mean by this? Ninkoul: See dhere? Dhose statues to watch over us? It is common for sanctuaries of our goddess, dhe Lady, to have dhese but... None of dhem resemble her Children like lakuzas. In fact, I've never seen dhese species before... And I'm not sure how to feel about dhe implications of all dhis... As she listens in, Kellie raises her eyebrow at him.

Kellie: Agh, sorry... I'm still a little jumpy. The two proceed to walk in silence. As the darkness envelops them, the click clacking of the heels is the only echo accompanying them...
The click clacking gets louder. Kellie: The sound is beginning to travel further. Could it be a temple? Ninkoul: Eidher dhat, or it's a hidden alchemist establishment. Maybe an academy, or a laboratory for dhe "enlightened". Hard to tell which one exactly. Suddenly, one the steps Ninkoul makes onto the floor causes illumination, travelling through patterns in the newly discovered part of the area. Ninkoul: ... We're finally in magic charged chambers. The knight kneels down to reach his hand out and touch the patterned floor, enveloping his hand with a fraction of his magic.

But somedhing is missing in dhem... Kellie: ... No symbol we're looking for. Ninkoul: Precisely. So eidher dhis place is older dhan dhe symbol itself... Kellie: ... Or this location was never an alchemist "den."
Kellie pulls herself up to get back on her feet after her moment of reprieve. Ninkoul: Are you sure you're ready to go already? Kellie: Thanks for looking out for me, but as you mentioned back at the inn, we may be constrained by time. And if there is any chance for this... thing.. to get its mug here, then reaching the end of this place must be our priority. Ninkoul, despite mild frustration expressed in quiet clenching of his fist, nods in response. The two proceed to walk deeper into the "den", going down the corridor. They reach its narrower pathway, through which the echo becomes more apparent and the area gets only darker...

We'll proceed once you're ready. He gets up, now using the opportunity to assess their new location properly.
The sight of the abandoned tall hallway is looming over their heads, with statues lined up in rows. Ninkoul: Hmmm... Somedhing's strange about dhis place. Kellie: ... How strange are we talking?
