Democrats held every card a week ago. Public sentiment, momentum, moral authority. And somehow they still folded. This is not compromise. It is collapse. The deal reopens the government without guaranteed extension of the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACE/Obamacare) subsidies that make coverage affordable. Premiums are set to spike for 20+ million Americans. No real concessions on housing, no meaningful worker relief, no leverage retained. It rewards obstruction, punishes conviction, and tells the public that courage in Washington doesn't exist for the most part. If you were just going to cave, why put people through this?
