With the success of "The Spirit" reprints, #DenisKitchen would next have #KitchenSinkPress reprint #MiltonCaniff's classic #StevenCanyon adventure strip.

In 1974, #DenisKitchen teamed with #StanLee & #Marvel to produce #TheComixBook. Kitchen was hoping to produce a more mainstream book (along with one of his best salaries) while Lee was hoping to tap into the underground comix market. Unfortunately, it only lasted two issues.

Another legendary artist #DenisKitchen managed to get for #KitchenSinkPress was #HarveyKurtzman, who provided covers for books like #Snarf #5 in 1974. Kitchen and the underground comix movement were huge fans of Kurtzman, whose work on "Mad" magazine was an enormous influence.

#DenisKitchen managed to convince #WillEisner, who was becoming interested in the underground comix movement, to return to comics after 20 years, providing a cover for #Snarf #3 and later reprinting his #TheSpirit series through #KitchenSinkPress.

Another early success for #KitchenSinkPress was #TeenageHorizonsofShangrila, an anthology series by #PeterPoplaski & #DaleKulpers, whom #DenisKitchen discovered when traveling through Green Bay.

#DenisKitchen launched the first #KitchenSinkPress comic with #MomsHomemadeComics in the spring of 1969. While only selling 4000 copies, it would be the start of one of the most notable independent publishers in American history.
