They won't like this nest box that I built, then!!

No signs yet that our peregrines have discovered the new nest box we've built for them. Hoping they're not put off by its "scandi sauna vibe" - as one reviewer described it!

Hoping they'll discover it soon

Looking up Derby Cathedral tower against a bright blue sky, with a red and a yellow abseil rope running down from the top. POV photo from the abseil.
Two hours dangling on an #abseil rope today.
What a delight to get off and to get some circulation back in my legs.

Today's the last day of National Nestbox Week!
So who's built a nice big one like ours?

#GrokAI-modified image of a man wearing body armour and the label 'NICE', pointing at a peregrine falcon nest platform on the side of Derby Cathedral's ancient stone tower.
OK, so I was tempted to play with #GrokAI again.
Not sure this is really going to do much to positively advertise
#derbyperegrines, but hey-ho!

Oh dear. The #DerbyPeregrines webcams are down. Surely it can't be because of a little bit of snow?
Hope to find out more tomorrow.

A leg of an Arctic Tern bearing a metal ring and set against a plastic ruler for scale.
That's quite the bruiser!
We had one of our #DerbyPeregrines take an Arctic Turn that was ringed in June 2002 on an island off the SW of Sweden, and was caught over our city in 2007.
It had certainly done some mileage!
A new Derby Peregrine blog post just landed.
And it's great news!

Bit of a panic this morning when we heard that one of the #birds we’d rescued a few days ago had died.
Turns out it had a good feed at 7am, then slept it off for an hour, looking all the world like an ex-falcon.
Final #DerbyPeregrines WatchPoint today!

If you’re free on Saturday morning, our last free WatchPoint on Cathedral Green runs from 10-2pm. There should be a fair bit of activity around the tower, often with adults passing food mid/air to the young #DerbyPeregrines.

Great news!
After worrying that our young peregrine falcon, which had been blown off in strong winds a few days ago, was dead or dying, today we discovered it alive and well on the roof of nearby buildings.
