The Ecleo's Castle
I'm at the castle gate and I'm like a commoner peering in. There's even a sign prohibiting photography, but since I'm a persistent asshole I asked the guard if I can go inside and snap some. I didn't bring any tributes, so no dice.

Time to hit the docks! Seven in the morning is as good a time as any, especially if you have a hundred more beaches to sink your toes into.
Yes, I'm overstating it. I meant the beaches I can visit, not the number of beaches here. It's more than that.

My watch is celebrating for me. Apparently, I climbed 54 floors! That lake was no walk in the park. Well it is, 54 of them, stacked on top of each other.

Bababu Beach late in the afternoon.
The name came from the phrase in Bisaya, "bâbâ sa buwaya" or "crocodile's mouth" due to the shape of the cove it's part of. Then some Kiwi dude just shortened it to "Bababu" and it has been known as that since then.

Civilization.
Early dinner is sisig and local sausage. Not a fan. I'm just tired so I'll probably eat anything.

Basilisa boasts another hidden gem: a secluded beach nestled within a sheltered cove.

My furry little friend Marian needed some encouragement on her first hike to the lake. Let's just say, there were a few tears shed (mostly hers, really). Turns out, I'm a bit more out of shape than I thought.

Lake Bababu
After navigating dense rainforest, steep ascents over jagged rocks, and nylon rope as guide, we emerged into a serene paradise. Flipflops or aqua shoes won't cut it; be sure to wear hiking shoes or strapped sandals for this trek.

Bababu Beach
Owned by the Langits, this beach serves as the jump-off point for the lake. Plan on spending 2 to 3 hours exploring. It takes 30 minutes to an hour to get to the lake, and the same amount of time to return. Be prepared for a hike!

The massive rock formations reveal intricate patterns. While the crystal-clear waters surrounding the base of the formations invite a refreshing dip, to cool down after marveling at the geological wonders that stand before you.

Hagakhak Rock Formations
On an islet jutting amidst clear waters and rising majestically off the coast, the relentless work of wind and waves for millennia has carved these dramatic outcrops. A testament to nature's raw beauty and power.

Isla Aga.
On a very small islet, sits an abandoned house atop a limestone cliff with its own dock and a small secluded beach. Destroyed by typhoon Odette, the house has a sense of mystery, its weathered form contrasting with the turquoise water below.

We're off to Basilisa, another municipality on the western side of Dinagat Islands .
I could do this every day. Drifting on a boat, soaking up the tranquility, and worry only about how much the sun will burn me today.

Pangabangan Beach.
This small resort has a calm and protected shore, ideal for swimming and enjoying the gentle sea breeze that will lull you to sleep. For a small fee, you can go up the view deck that offers a panoramic vista of the surrounding islets.

The Blue Lagoon of Pangabangan Island.
This place is just breathtaking. It's like the sea opened up and I don't only see hues of blue but also hear it. A silent moment of pure awe.
I could definitely live here.

San Jose, Dinagat Islands. On top of the hill is the Ecleos' castle. Remember Ruben Jr.?
So the first order of business is to find accommodations and a boat for island hopping. Unfortunately, the resorts that I like are fully booked.
