It's #FlyDay! #Dipterans have been here forever and will still be around long after... everything has passed. Enjoy this Robber Fly, genus Dioctria (best I can figure), a predator of many potential pests in the garden, so a friend to me!

Hoverflies are often mistaken for #bees or #wasps, but these #dipterans have no ability to sting you.

This is entirely intentional evolutionary trait known as Batesian mimicry.
