Primula meadia syn Dodecatheon meadia 'Queen Victoria', shooting star. Against a blurry BG of more shooting stars, purple and white, and some leaves, one stem of flowers in focus. Several flowers emerging from one stem on pedicels that curve over and down, so that the yellow & black stamens of the flower point down and the pink-purple petals sweep upward.

Primula meadia syn Dodecatheon meadia 'White Shooting Star', shooting star. Form similar to 'Queen Victoria' but the petals are white, and the plant is in general a lot more floriferous, so there are a LOT of the white flowers in the frame.

Primula japonica 'Miller's Crimson', japanese primsrose. A scape grows up from a rosette of leaves flat to the gorund. The flowers erupt from the scape in one or more whorls spaced along the scape, reminiscent of fireworks. Each deep magenta-red flower has a fused tube surrounding the reproductive parts that opens into a flat corolla at the distal end.

Primula sieboldii, Siebold's primrose. A scape bears a single whorl of flowers, a white fused tube at the base, opening into a corolla that splits into heart-shaped lobes, pink toward their outer edges. In the background blurry leaves and more flowers.

Blechnum spicant, deer fern. Against a blurry backdrop of leaf litter, two tightly curled leaes rise, facing in opposite directions. One is taller than the other. At this stage they have red stems and one only sees a little of the green leaflets.

Dodecatheon meadia 'White Shooting Star'. Against a blurry background of leaves, a group of the flowers. Each is downward facing, with prominent stamens in a conical arrangement, a dark structure at their base, and then above them, the recurved petals that turn sharply upward. The petals are yellow at the proximal end, then white, and twist elegantly upward toward the distal.

Erythronium 'Pagoda', sometime known as dog-tooth violet. Against a blurry background of green leaves, a stem with one open flower, one partially open, and several buds. The open flower is downward facing, with pointy pale yellow petals (thus the "dog tooth"), white pistil and deep yellow pollen.

Lunaria annua, honesty. An "x" shaped flower with petals of red violet veined with deep purple and pale yellow stamens. In the bg several more flowers and blurred leafy green.
