Many people who visit #DunorlanPark are not aware of the Victoria Cross Grove near the Bayhall Rd entrance. There was a poignant Remembrance Day service there today. Wreaths were laid at the monument commemorating the 10 VC holders with connections to #TunbridgeWells.
A morning portrait of Mallard and Black-headed Gull taken about 7:30am today, Dunorlan Park.
A few bits and bobs in the last couple of visits to #DunorlanPark #TunbridgeWells including at least 31 Moorhens in the rain 🌧️ on Sunday afternoon 😃
59 species noted here so far this month…
Lapwing from Dunorlan’ this morning.
Dunnock: unobtrusive, always present and sometimes elusive but this one posed.
Good to be out again this morning with my first Fieldfares of the autumn, small numbers Redwings about, a few Redpoll over, a few Siskin (more yesterday), 20 Goldfinch and a little more unexpected a single Lapwing (a couple of fields away but that’ll do).

Heron standing the edge of a short wooden slipway into the lake. (This is near the boathouse -not shown.) The water can be seen through various tall plants in the foreground.
A heron keeping watchful eye on proceedings at this morning's @rtwparkrun.bsky.social.

No sign of breeding this year but this Grey Heron landed a few metres in front of me today in Dunorlan Park
Another sign of autumn yesterday evening with a Lesser Whitethroat in the big hedge at #DunorlanPark #TunbridgeWells
To get to the top you have to take the first step…….

Beautiful day in the Garden of England ☀️

A male Siskin that spent at least five minutes in #DunorlanPark this morning was an unexpected June bird for patch.
The ticks I removed yesterday were possibly more the result of #orchids (or a shrike) than looking to the skies. I removed twice as many ticks as I did when Redpolls were lumped 😟
Weasily the best sighting at #DunorlanPark #TunbridgeWells this morning: a STOAT.
Not rare, but good.
It’s pictured on one the notice boards but I’d never clapped eyes on one here previously.
Also 35 species of bird.
Forgot the optics so felt a bit naked but still managed 32 species of birds by 6:50am this morning - usual culprits including Treecreeper which is surely resident but not seen or heard most days. #DunorlanPark #TunbridgeWells #KentBirding
#DunorlanPark, #TunbridgeWells
Firecrest best before work today, maybe two singing individuals.

In middle distance a lake with brightly coloured pedalos moored. Trees - several with thick white blossom- in foreground frame the picture. Trees in full leaf also on far side of lake.
Spring and Summer meet...

Back to dog walks in Blighty, but what a day for it ☀️

A surprise Sand Martin flew north at 7:07am this morning followed by a few more distant hirundines a little bit later. #DunorlanPark #TunbridgeWells
Sunday sunshine over Dunorlan Park ☀️

A chilly start
35 species in/from #DunorlanPark this morning. Redwings have been gone for a few days but not much in the way of new arrivals - Chiffchaffs and a single Blackcap still the only summer migrants. Red Kite was noteworthy.

Why stay in bed and miss a sunrise like this ☀️😀☀️

Not quite a patch first as we expect Blackcaps to be arriving in the last few days of March, and so it was this morning - one of 33 species of birds in an hour at #DunorlanPark #TunbridgeWells today.
…. and on the BBC weather again 🤣

Patch mega: my first Wheatear for #DunorlanPark #TunbridgeWells in the top field this morning. A surprise as I didn’t arrive until late but unfortunately too many punters and their pets and it was soon off.
This was one 28 species noted in about 40 minutes today.
#KentBirding
March is often good for Siskins moving around but this winter they have been pretty thin on the ground. Two in #DunorlanPark this morning tripled the number noted there so far this year!

Post sunset, Dunorlan Park, Tunbridge Wells.
Oh well, I didn’t notice the report of White-fronted Goose at #DunorlanPark until dusk. I dashed up but no sign - single Fieldfare the best (and a few bats).
It’s been a very good day though starting with local Lesser Spotted Woodpecker, Dartford Warblers and Woodlark.
Butterfly pic’s to sort.
Either I was late today or Spring is here and the sun is rising earlier (or both). Dunorlan Park, Tunbridge Wells.
Peregrine from a warmer walk around #DunorlanPark this morning, my first here for a couple of months.

Dunorlan Park at 6:30am
Dunorlan Park, Tunbridge Wells at 6:40am
The sun was getting there as I was leaving!
Jay the best of 24 species noted by 6:40am this morning. This is one species that I’m surprised that I don’t see most days in #DunorlanPark when it’s really not uncommon locally. Today it gave away its presence with its buzzard-like mewing (which the Merlin app was convinced it was). #TunbridgeWells
