Osprey and Wheatear at (or from!) Motney Hill this evening - fun watching the Osprey attempt a few dives before catching tea (fish again!). @kentishplover.bsky.social #KentBirding

The weekend gets off to a rubbish start with just 15 species (plus a White Stork which flew SSW reasonably high) at the tip 😲 / sewage works.

I keep visiting the site in the hope of finding something interesting but tend to come away empty handed most of the time.

March across the wider Dungeness recording area was desperate with the 2026 total now on 161 species

Highlight was a Crane which flew over the RSPB reserve, a Smew and Long-tailed Duck on seawatches and a light scattering of spring migrants

Northerly winds are not kind

Seawatching at Dungeness has been pretty desperate with plenty going up the French side in the last week with these northerly winds

A group of nine Redwing heading north, first singing Willow Warbler for me, a few Chiffchaffs dotted across Point and the odd Siskin over

A leisurely 6:15 start for the first Milton Creek bird survey on a cold frosty morning. 42 sp seen or heard with 7 Song Thrushes (rare birds there) & a late Fieldfare the highlights. 2 Blackcaps heard calling were year ticks. At least 25 Dunnock recorded. #kentbirding #kentnature

Crane

Crane

RSPB Dungeness, I wasn’t hoping for much on the second visit of the day to Burrowes, this afternoon, so was pleasantly surprised to find a Crane overhead, that circled briefly before going height and heading north.
