The demersal survey of Angolan fisheries resources is completed. Data collected are already used by #INIP to inform the management of Angola fisheries. The cherry on the cake was the celebration of Angola Independence Day on board the Dr Fridtjof Nansen #EAFNansen
Vampire squid (Vampyroteuthis sp) caught off Mauritania, NW Africa
A creature of the deeps, the vampire squid is a unique creature, not really a squid, but a unique group of cephalopods. We caught this specimen in a bottom trawl off NW Africa during a research cruise #eafnansen 🦑🧪
I loved this project that we did on the #EAFNansen in the South East Atlantic. We saw so much cool deep-sea stuff and we even got a few publications out of it. :)

This morning som West-Saharan (Moroccoan) fishers came up to our research vessel asking for water and food (which we gave them). Interesting shape of these short vessels with high & broad bows made to handle the large swells of NW Africa. #EAFNansen
