Feeling inspired!
Jimmy Lin 🪄 sharing his ongoing (agentic?) loop between 🤯 and 🤷♂️ state of mind wrt coding and GenAI.
Reproducibility, yes, but for who? For our students, or for our students' coding agents?
Will teaching class just become sharing the SKILL.md file? Do we only […]

Djoerd Hiemstra thanking the editors
Today, at the European Conference on Information Retrieval #ECIR2026, authors of #IRRJ papers presented their work in a dedicated #IRRJ session. A big thank you to our editors for running the journal!
@djoerd wrapping up the IRRJ (pronounced by some as "urge") session emphasizing the importance of Diamond Open Access, reminding us that you can also present your paper at FIRE (in December), the work behind the scenes to get the journal included in established […]

This year, we chose the theme for the track to be "What is IR-for-Good?" to draw attention to the fact that "societal good" is still very under-theorized in the field of IR. This is a critical open question that the community needs to develop a shared understanding of. #ECIR2026 #IR4Good

@djoerd Second goal: Web search should be a collaborative effort.
Draws an analogy to car industry, where many brands share the same "platform" (the car body).
Just like OWS.EU does this!
