Even though it has been some time since the talk, we did not want to withhold any insights!!
At the #ECTE2026, European Conference of Tropical Ecology 2026, @soctropecol.bsky.social, @alfredoromero.bsky.social held an amazing talk as a keynote speaker and enjoyed the event very much!
A few more memories from #ECTE2026 in Passau! 🌍🌿
We had a great time connecting with the tropical ecology community. It was great to see so many early-career researchers presenting their work! Many thanks to the organizers of the fantastic conference!

🌴About 10 days ago, the 9th European Conference of #Tropical #Ecology - #ECTE2026 wrapped up!
🐝However, we are still buzzing with excitement from all the connections, conversations, and presentations on all things tropical ecology.
⬇️ See all the highlights of the week in our latest blog post:
Day 4 highlights at #ECTE2026 🌿
One keynote:
🔎 Dr. Alfredo Romero-Muñoz – Impacts of multiple threats on mammal diversity across a global deforestation hotspot.
So many great talks on the very last day of the conference 🌞

🏆Congratulations to Evangelia Chronopoulou (@ufz.de, @uni-jena.de) for winning the Best Talk Award at #ECTE2026! for her talk "Aromatic delight: Revealing diversity and function of fruit microbiome in seed dispersal"
🎉She received a free publication in an #OA #journal from Pensoft's portfolio.
Happy to have won third place for best poster at #ECTE2026!
We studied solitary bees and wasps nesting in standing and lying #deadwood 🪵🐝, all mediated by substrate humidity. Looking forward to getting this study publicly available!

Lots of interesting talks on beak morphology in hummingbirds and mutualistic networks, diet matabarcoding and fish niche overlap in Guyana, pollen dispersal in Congo, tropic interactions shaping community dynamics and a lot more! @soctropecol.bsky.social #ECTE2026
Focusing on Melastomataceae, the team looked at 11 independent mountain colonizations. ⛰️
🐝 #Bees are less effective #pollinators than vertebrates at high elevations. However the "why" and "when" are still being unraveled. 🔎

🌸Exciting #pollinator research at #ECTE2026! Dr. Agnes Dellinger (@the-kunsze.bsky.social) presented on how #environmental shifts can trigger pollinator shifts.
Key takeaway: it’s not just one factor, it’s a mix of macro/micro-ecology and shifting biotic communities.
𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲: To protect Africa’s mountain biodiversity, we must bridge 6,000 years of history with future policy. Solutions like Tanzania’s KESHO project prove the past and future are interconnected. 🌍🏔️
