Last ReSkeet: What I really wanted to hear about at #ELUNA2024 was about what security is being worked on to prevent the entire cloud-based academic library infrastructure being held for ransom, NOT friggin' AI.
Getting back from #ELUNA2024 & feeling kinda lonely working remote again. I don’t mind working on site, I do hate the commute.
Next year in Atlanta (June 16-20 because COVID is still messing up event planning) #ELUNA2024

"Getting Rialto Right the Second Time" with Jackie Wrosch. Very helpful!
I like the sound of their weekly report that checks all new Railto orders for ISBN, fixed fields, subject headings. #ELUNA2024
Possible to suppress deduping in Primo by location. Audible Oooos from the audience. 📚 #ELUNA2024

Some libraries weigh their games on a food scale upon return instead of counting pieces.
#ELUNA2024
Audience member mentions "local resource types" -- this sounds great for games! I'll have to check out yesterday's presentation on that.

I didn't know you could add custom thumbnails / cover images in primo!

I just saw the logo with ELOONA and I see what you did there! #ELUNA2024

Cracker Jacks at break time. As always, excited by the prospect of the treat inside &, as always, disappointed by what the treat was. 😆 #ELUNA2024
I am pretty psyched about Open Library Workflows. #ELUNA2024
Specto and Collecto. They're great names; you'll get used to them. 🙃 #ELUNA2024
did ExL really think they created the course management system? #eluna2024
Program for Cooperative Cataloging released guidelines in July 2023 (for metadata to identify accessible features/formats?)
I’m trying to type while listening & may not have caught things correctly.
#ELUNA2024
Florida Virtual Campus created a separate Primo view for accessible materials based on local note (in bib record?). Created facet for Accessibility Content #ELUNA2024
Better still, the Marrakesh treaty allows digital formats to be DRM-free & libraries can retain copies in accessible formats for future use requests #ELUNA2024
I do still like the idea of identifying record merges so that OCLC numbers in the catalog are up-to-date (and records are appropriately merged also) so maybe 019/035 would be a reasonable trigger to update those fields at least. #ELUNA2024
Interesting discussion about strong aversion to loss of data, especially in special collections. It feels like "a loss is worth 30 points, a gain is worth maybe 2 points." #ELUNA2024
Wow interesting -- after their experience with updating their local catalog with OCLC data (during which some good local data was lost, and some poor non-local data was added), they just did a big Ctrl-Z at some point and restored everything back to pre-data-sync versions. #ELUNA2024
Up next -- hearing Peter Green talk about "OCLC Data Sync at Princeton". We've been thinking about this again, so I'm curious to hear how it is working these days! #ELUNA2024
Yay Nilson also had an "NA" story from their data -- recorded to mean "not applicable" in a country field, but then interpreted as an abbreviation for an African country (Namibia probably? Nigeria?) #ELUNA2024
Nilson: What is the geography of a theater work? Publication location? Subject location? (Where the playwright is from?) May differ per subject, like plays vs works about costuming. #ELUNA2024
Kimberley Edwards and Emily Nilson talking about "Assessing Geographic Diversity in Your Collection: From Alma to Data Visualizations". Wow, as many as 35 MARC fields with geographic metadata! (but only 19 indexed in analytics out of the box) #ELUNA2024
Project to automate library ebook purchases of titles used as course textbooks at the university— only 23% of titles available for purchase by libraries. I’m horrified but not at all surprised. #ELUNA2024
Oh neat, I didn't know you could update cz records by importing records (local extension like 090 only). I understand the restriction but too bad these improvements are only for this one institution! #ELUNA2024
