#EU4Algae, a @ec.europa.eu #DGMARE algae project, invites schools from EU Member States to participate in a co-creation programme to test the EU4Algae Schools Toolkit, to be deployed across European schools in 2026 for children aged 3 -15.

The European Commission adopted its EU Algae Initiative in 2022. It works with national authorities to create awareness, facilitate licensing and help the sector develop. It has invested more than 500 million euros into algae-related research over the past decade or so. It has set up the EU Algae Stakeholder Platform EU4Algae. It is working across different services to make sure the sector's challenges are addressed in a coherent way. And it raises awareness through consumer surveys, Euronews episodes or last week's second Algae Awareness Summit

They have been painted with colours made from algae- spirulina and ulva - during the third annual conference of the EU4Algae stakeholder forum. EU4Algae is financed by the European Commission and involves the algae sector in the implementation of the EU algae initiative, an effort to promote sustainable consumption and production of algae in the EU.
