The #NASA Roses call came out today & I am beside myself. There exists no #earthsci funding. None.

And like, yes, duh, has the LCLUC meeting been indefinitely postponed; have I mourned the loss of #SERVIR; have I been paying attention to everything around me. All yes. Still hurts.

Glacial retreat converts exposed landscapes from net carbon sinks to sources - Communications Earth & Environment Weathering of fresh comminuted sediment during glacial to interglacial transitions can result in net carbon dioxide sinks, whereas enhanced methanogenesis in deglaciated soils acts as a source of gree...

In a recent @commsearth.nature.com paper, Andrea Pain and a team from UF Geology explored how climate feedbacks change as glaciers retreat and expose the landscape beneath them.

G'day, #tech and #Earthsci people of Austodon. Does anyone know how I can take a TIFF map from Geosci Australia and get it into a Garmin handheld friendly format? Bonus cookie if it can be made to work in Basecamp as well! On that note.... are Geosci aware that vector graphics are a thing? Or is […]

More Climate Education going on in my classroom!

This is my little act of defiance. I will never stop teaching about CC for as long as I am an educator.

Today, we analyzed ice cores, tree rings, and historical records. We discussed how clinate science is evidence based!

UPDATE: Thanks to users of @inaturalist.bsky.social, we identified the coral! It’s Heliopora coerulea! The skeleton is made of the mineral aragonite, a carbonate mineral found in seawater! Geology is everywhere, not just in caves and mines!

Interesting, but contrary to the article, ice and soil wedges on Earth occur in far more places than Greenland, Iceland, and Antarctica. There are way more in Canada/Russia/Alaska and far larger forms. #earthsci #permafrost
