So many branches to explore in the family tree. How to choose what’s next?
Well. Once I saw that hat, I knew my choice was made: toomuchbrudders.com/2025/12/11/t... #FamilyHistory #EdwardianFashion #ancestry

The corset-like belt isn't authentic to #EdwardianFashion in my opinion, but the toilette as a whole is authentically pretty. #fashionhistory #fashioninfilm #moviecostumes

The notion that every, or almost every, corset-wearer in Victorian and Edwardian times "tight-laced" to get their waists down to an impossibly tiny size is one of the most enduring myths of #fashionhistory. This video explodes that myth. #corsets #corsetry #victorianfashion #edwardianfashion

Would be grateful if someone could date these #shoes please. My (wild) guess is C19-C20. Due to their size I guess they are women’s shoes. #georgianfashion #victorianfashion #edwardianfashion

That Bluesky elder can go soak their head, which I would recommend anyway because it's so perishing hot. To misquote Doctor Doom: "FOOL! I post about #bunnies, #Traveller, #boardwargaming, #classicmovies, #alternatehistory and #EdwardianFashion as I please!"

Afternoon dresses were the daytime attire of the Belle Epoque socialite. Less formal then their evening counterparts, they were considered half-dress.

"Lucile", Lady Lucy Duff-Gordon, pioneering female fashion designer of the early 20th century, shown with two of her "mannequins" (the older term for fashion models), Phyllis and Gamela (no last names given). All three women are wearing fashions and hairstyles typical of the late Edwardian era (the photograph is dated 1910). One of the models, at the far left, is seated, while the other model, at center, is standing. Lucile seems to be discussing the dress the model at center is wearing; she has her right hand up as if adjusting the skirt drape the model is wearing.
#BOTD: Lucy, Lady Duff-Gordon, famous under her professional name Lucile as one of the most influential fashion designers of the late 1900's through the 1920's. (Pictured her with two of her models, called "mannequins", in 1910.) #fashionhistory #edwardianfashion #1910sfashion #1920sfashion

"Michael had nearly cried. “Nobody wants me,” he said, and of course the lady in the evening-dress could not stand that.
“I do,” she said, “I so want a third child.”"

Could be anytime from the late 19th to mid-20th century, but I'm going to guess Edwardian (1900-1914) since I've seen a number of other pairs of shoulder-length gloves dating from then (to be worn with decolletage evening gowns with shoulder straps. #glovehistory #fashionhistory #edwardianfashion
Ann-Margret, BOTD, playing Flavia Geste in 1977's "The Last Remake of Beau Geste", making her grand entrance near the start of the movie. She's smiling seductively at someone off the field of view, and wears an elegant pink Edwardian daytime outfit with a large hat perched atop her copper tresses, which are done up in a comically exaggerated Gibson Girl hairdo.
Ann-Margret, BOTD, playing Flavia Geste in 1977's "The Last Remake of Beau Geste", second from left with Marty Feldman as Digby Geste (to her left from viewer's perspective), Trevor Howard as Sir Hector Geste (to her right), and Michael York as Beau Geste (far right, smoking a cigar and holding a drink in his left hand). A-M is wearing a low-cut pink Edwardian evening gown with black accents and abundant pearl jewelry and black opera gloves with diamond buttons; she's smoking a cigar, which she holds in her gloved left hand, and black feathers in her Gibson Girl-pompadoured red hear, and is smiling at Howard.
Ann-Margret, BOTD, playing Flavia Geste in 1977's "The Last Remake of Beau Geste", near the climax of the movie. She's facing Roy Kinnear (Corporal Boldini, out of sight of the viewer to the right of the image). She wears a white satin gown with choker-style pearl necklace and a tiara in her red Gibson Girl-styled hair, as well as white satin opera gloves. Her left hand is up and she has a wary expression on her face. Behind her can be seen the insignia of the French Foreign Legion on a curtain hanging against the wall.
Ann-Margret, BOTD, playing Flavia Geste in 1977's "The Last Remake of Beau Geste", standing in front of costar Michael York (Beau Geste) at a dramatic moment. She wears a white satin evening gown with a narrow red-and-blue sash around her waist, white satin evening gloves, lots of pearl-and-diamond jewelry, and wears her bright copper hair in an exaggerated Gibson Girl coiffure. York wears an off-white French Foreign Legion uniform with high collar, and has his hands on her shoulder; A-M has just stepped in front of him to prevent Peter Ustinov (Sergeant Markov, the movie's chief villain) from shooting her lover. Both A-M and York have cautious expressions on their faces as they watch Ustinov (off-camera) to see what he might do next.
More Edwardian fashion images of Ann-Margret, #BOTD, as Flavia Geste, Beau Geste's wicked (or is she???) & sexy stepmother in 1977's "The Last Remake of Beau Geste" (like I said, my favorite of her movies). #annmargret #lastremakeofbeaugeste #moviesky #filmsky #filmcostume #edwardianfashion
