I think you both are correct. #EmergencyManagers, encourage people to have multiple ways to receive alerts about incidents that may impact them. That includes #WxRadios and signing up for local emergency alerts.

Now what? We must:
- Continue to speak out about what #EmergencyManagers do @ the state, local, tribal, & territorial level, & why federal support is so critical to saving lives.

- Help our jurisdictions/ organizations develop alternative funding for mitigation, preparedness, response, & recovery.

Instead of helping government leaders at all levels understand what we do and why it’s important, they have taken #FEMA money and protected their turf. This decades-long failure to actually advocate for #EmergencyManagers and the people we serve has now come home to roost.

Understand that #EmergencyManagers coordinate information & resources for field responders during #emergencies / #disasters; & help communities prepare for, mitigate, recover from, & prevent disasters when possible.
Think before demanding that your #EMs color outside those lines.

What would #EmergencyManagers do in this situation?
- ensure field personnel have #resources (people, equipment, supplies) needed to respond.
- coordinate with #media and issue press releases so field staff don’t have to.
- set up #familyassistance centers.
- work with state & federal partners.

Since Nov 2022, I advocated for & became a general PITA in my efforts to increase #DEI within the field of #EmergencyManagement, particularly in an organization I felt could do most to improve DEI among #EmergencyManagers in the US — the International Association of Emergency Managers-USA, #IAEM.
