Flyer text: DEMAND THAT SALEM CITY COUNCIL APPROVE THE EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND WE ARE close to moving the City of Salem to approve a social services emergency relief fund. This is a general fund that would support ALL families in need of direct assistance. It would also be made available to migrant families in Salem impacted by immigration enforcement. An emergency relief fund is a temporary, but urgent, solution to the social, legal and financial crisis migrant families in Salem are facing. Undocumented migrants paid nearly $100 Billion in taxes in 2022. "In 40 states, undocumented immigrants paid higher tax rates than the top 1% of the income scale in those states" Reference: Quinlan, Alabama Reflector, 2024
