Flyer text: ISSUES THAT IMPACT STUDENTS DIRECTLY IN SALEM KEIZER LATINOS UNIDOS SIEMPRE I.C.E. PRESENCE NEAR SCHOOLS Right now, in Oregon public schools (K-12) and higher education institutions are not required by law to notify students or families if I.C.E. is near, and or, on campus. This puts parents, staff and students at risk. Students and families have the right to know when I.C.E. agents are near or on school campuses! We call on Salem-Keizer School Board to endorse House Bill 40791 "Safeguarding Students and Families Act," is proposed Oregon legislation requiring K-12 schools, public universities, and community colleges to immediately notify parents, students, and staff if federal immigration agents (ICE) are verified on campus. Aimed at addressing fear and decreasing attendance caused by, it requires using existing alert systems to provide verified, not rumored, information.
Flyer text: LESSON PLAN HOUSE BILL 4079 CAN SCHOOL BOARDS ENDORSE LEGISLATIVE BILLS? YES! School Boards can collectively vote to endorse legislative bills by passing a resolution that opposes or supports the bill. Salem Keizer School Board has the responsibility to do everything in their power to protect ALL students. Supporting House Bill 4079, is not a political statement, but an action that moves Oregon closer to ensuring all students can learn safely in their schools. When school boards collective support legislation like HB 4079, it puts pressure on State law-makers to sign it into law! We call on Salem-Keizer School Board to endorse House Bill 4079!
Flyer text: Salem Keizer School Board, My name is I am (a parent, student, or community member) in Salem-Keizer. I am writing to urge you to adopt a resolution in favor of House Bill 4079, the Safeguarding Students and Families Act" which would allow all schools in Oregon to notify parents and students when I.C.E is on campus or near a school. I.C.E. agents have been terrorizing our streets, families and students. Not knowing when I.C.E. is on or near a school creates toxic stress, trauma and anxiety and this is negatively affecting students' ability to learn in school. Endorsing HB 4079 will help law makers see the urgency that exists in our local communities. Do the right thing and pass a resolution in support of HB4079.
More action to support our students.
The Salem Keizer School Board has a "work-session" on Tuesday February 24th. This is where they can discuss endorsing HB4079

The City of Salem is proposing to approve $200,000, but we DEMAND the full $400,000 originally approved by the budget committee. SALEM CITY COUNCIL MEETING LOUCKS AUDITORIUM 585 LIBERTY ST SE 5 PM

MIGRANT WORKERS PAY TAXES BUT DO NOT QUALIFY FOR PUBLIC RESOURCES We are fighting for an emergency relief fund because migrant families often do not qualify for public resources like healthcare, and or housing assistance and are being denied legal representation when detained by I.C.E. An emergency relief fund is a temporary, but urgent, solution to the social, legal and financial crisis migrant families in Salem are facing. Undocumented migrants paid nearly $100 Billion in taxes in 2022. "In 40 states, undocumented immigrants paid higher tax rates than the top 1% of the income scale in those states" Reference: Quinlan, Alabama Reflector, 2024
Let’s show up for our neighbors, at City Council on Monday at 5pm.

Push Dems and progressives for leadership. Stop consuming main stream media, they are only responding to their oligarch masters.
And don’t bother trying to convert MAGA.
