MIGRANT WORKERS PAY TAXES BUT DO NOT QUALIFY FOR PUBLIC RESOURCES We are fighting for an emergency relief fund because migrant families often do not qualify for public resources like healthcare, and or housing assistance and are being denied legal representation when detained by I.C.E. An emergency relief fund is a temporary, but urgent, solution to the social, legal and financial crisis migrant families in Salem are facing. Undocumented migrants paid nearly $100 Billion in taxes in 2022. "In 40 states, undocumented immigrants paid higher tax rates than the top 1% of the income scale in those states" Reference: Quinlan, Alabama Reflector, 2024
