In the second sketch Emperors eyes are wider, its antennae stand alert and its crest hairs poof out in a surprised expression. In the last sketch emperors eyes are narrower, its antennae flat against its head and its crest hairs smoothed in an annoyed expression.

A sketch reference sheet of Emperor, Quilbug's bug-monster persona. The creature is a mix of multiple insects. Is has the fuzz and green, red and yellow colouration of a pellucid hawkmoth. Its posture, mouth parts and the way its wings fold over its abdomen is that of a mantis, but the wings are transparent like a crickets. All its hands and feet are the same, with fuzzy 'palms' like a tarantula where four prehensile claws jut out of.
