This study explores the bidirectional associations between seborrheic dermatitis (SD) and epithelial barrier disease (EBDs) in a cohort of 5,083,689 individuals in a US administrative claims database. Positive bidirectional associations were found between SD and many EBDs of the skin, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and ocular surfaces. The results support the Epithelial Barrier Theory as a shared driver of EBD pathogenesis at both local and non-local epithelial barriers.
